Poet Steve Turner reassembles the Nativity Cast for Easter!

Take the wise men to the Emperor’s palace.
Wash their hands in water.
Get them to say something about truth.
Does anyone know any good Jewish jokes?
The one about a carpenter
who thought he was a King?
The one about the Saviour
who couldn’t save himself?
The shepherds should stand with the chorus.
They have a big production number -
‘Barabbas, We Love You Baby’.
Mary? She can move to the front.
We have a special section reserved
for family and close friends.
Tell her that we had to cut the manger up.
We needed the wood for something else.
The star I’m afraid I can’t use.
There are no stars in this show.
The sky turns black with sorrow.
The earth shakes with terror.
Hold on to the frankincense.
We’ll need that for the garden scene.
Angels? He could do with some angels.
Avenging angels.
Merciful angels.
He could really do with some angels.
Baby Jesus.
Step this way please.
My! How you’ve grown!

Beat Bullying Poem

I am the person you bullied at school,
I am the person who didn’t know how to be cool.
I’m the person that you alienated,
I’m the person you ridiculed and hated.
I am the person, who sat on her own,
I am the person who walked home alone.
I am the person you scared every day,
I am the person who had nothing to say.
I am the person with hurt in his eyes,
I am the person you never saw cry.
I am the person living alone with his fears,
I am the person destroyed by his peers.
I am the person, who drowned in your scorn,
I am the person who wished she hadn’t been born.
I am the person you destroyed for fun,
I am the person, but not the only one.
I’m the person whose name you didn’t know,
I’m the person who just can’t let go.
I’m the person, who has feelings to,
I am the person, just like you.
Make a stand. Wear a band.

Living Bread and Living Water

When we hunger and thirst,
The LORD will give "True Bread,"
[John 6:32]
"Hidden Manna" and "living water,"
[Rev. 2:17] [John 4:10]
The Judge of the Quick and Dead.
[Acts 10:42]

A woman came "to draw water," [John 4:7]
Where JESUS sat on the well.
He offered her "living water."
"The CHRIST," she went to tell.
[John 4:29]

When our soul is searching,
Empty, barren, and dry,
He will fill our cup, overflowing,
If we pray to the LORD on high.

He "came down from Heaven." [John 6:51]
"I AM THE LIVING BREAD." [John 6:51]
If we eat and drink of Him,
He will raise us from the dead. [John 6:54]

When we drink of the water
CHRIST offers and believe,
We will never hunger or thirst.
Eternal life, we will receive.

And, we will live forever,
Sustained by "The Bread of Life."
[John 6:35]
The fountain of "living water"
Flows from the font of CHRIST.

Under our skin

There once was an oyster, whose story I tell;
Who found that some sand, had gotten into his shell.

It was only a grain, but it gave him great pain;
For oysters have feelings, although they are plain.
Now, did he berate the harsh workings of fate,
That had brought him to such a deplorable state?

"No," he said to himself, "Since I cannot remove it,
I'll lie in my shell, and think how to improve it."
The years rolled around, as the years always do,
And he came to his ultimate Destiny...stew.

Now the small grain of sand that had bothered him so,
Was a beautiful pearl all richly aglow.
This tale has a moral, for isn't it grand,
What an oyster can do with a morsel of sand?

Think... What could WE do, If we'd only begin,
With some of the things that get under OUR skin.
